Last week I offered my advice for an article in Five Star Wedding (find the article here) which covered winter weddings and I wanted to follow-on from that with some more elaborate thoughts.
As a lot of couples had to postpone their special day to later in the year due to the current pandemic, events planners and florists like myself are starting to put together designs to match the occasion, and the weather too! And just because a wedding will take place in wintertime, it doesn’t mean that it has to be less beautiful, and couples don’t have to compromise on their flower choices either.
It’s no secret that we can now source almost any variety of flower at any time of the year. However, good florists tend to work with the seasons, and if you choose to use seasonal flowers you can get better value for your money and it will certainly be a more sustainable choice. Each season enjoys an abundance of flowers and winter is no exception!.
I personally love winter weddings and events because I have a wide variety of flowers to choose from, still. Whereas some couples choose a ‘white theme’ for their flower arrangements, to go with perceived winter colours, I would advise those with a little more courage to try velvet red, silver pink, and white with red mixed with pine. These colours will complement well with white or silver and in some cases with the magical snow.
If red is not your cup of tea, there are other winter flowers you can choose for your arrangement including anemone, ranunculus, white hydrangea, and cymbidium orchids and lots more.
Whether you’re planning your wedding or want to surprise someone with flowers, don’t forget we’re here for you. We offer a flower delivery service in North London, same-day delivery and next day delivery all over the UK, six days a week.
